Chris Paul for MVP not Kobe Bryant
Has everyone forgotten last summer already when fair weather teammate Kobe Bryant was publicly whining and crying TRADE ME! When he turned his back on his teammates (although justified for Andrew Bynum) and was video taped complaining about team management. Now everyone is jumping on board chanting MVP for Kobe Bryant even though the Los Angeles Lakers are not even in first place in the Western Conference. Unbelievable! This has got to be the largest case of short term memory loss ever!
HERE IS THE VIDEO SO YOU CAN REMEMBER! I believe when asked about Andrew Bynum, Kobe says “ITS TIME TO SHIP HIS ASS OUT!”.
Chris Paul is your MVP like it or not! I would give the MVP to Byron Scott if it was possible for what he has done to motivate and take the New Orleans Hornets to first position in the toughest Western Conference we have ever seen. Chris Paul is playing lights out basketball every night putting up team record breaking numbers and pushing his team towards the NBA Finals.
MVP awards have been given away at times to players who arguably where not deserving of them and were the popular choice at the time. Giving the MVP award to Kobe Bryant would be repeating history and not recognizing a player who has truly made an impact on a team that has not seen the spotlight since the days of Larry Johnson! Chris Paul has pushed beyond all barriers and exploded this season creating an opportunity for himself, his teammates and his organization to go to the NBA Finals. To not recognize him as the MVP of this league would be a colossal mistake and show how the NBA has lost focus on the meaning of Most Valuable Player.
So what if Kobe Bryant can score at will? If scoring and dominating is all that matter then why is Allan Iverson not a contender? Players need to be more than fair weather teammates and show leadership both on and off the court. Have some integrity and be somewhat of a role model for upcoming players. We all know being a spotlight player equates to huge ad dollars but it should not equate to automatic MVP.
Although I have never been a huge Hornets or Chris Paul fan I have to admit Chris Paul is the NBA MVP and rightly deserves MVP recognition.
